Val grew up on a dairy farm that converted to beef cattle in 1997, Simmental to be specific. In 2000 she moved to Winnebago, MN where she managed Golly Farms a 100+ Shorthorn and Simmental cow/calf operation; it was here that Val discovered her love for Shorthorns. In 2003, after buying her own farm; she bought a herd of Shorthorn cattle.
Over the years she has achieved great success with her cattle such as Champion Female at the 2004 MN state fair along with winning 4 other divisions that year and has had many other champions since then. In 2008 Val was the Premier Breeder of the Shorthorn breed at the MN State Fair. In 2014 Val was honored with the Golden Broom Award at the Iowa Beef Expo. Val served on the Board of Directors for the MN Shorthorn Association from 2014-2017. She has also obtained Master’s in Business, Minor in Sales and Marketing, and Business Systems Specialist degrees.
Dan has over 30 years of manufacturing experience and uses his expertise in logistics and project management to manage the farm on a daily basis. Dan is responsible for tending to daily chores, checking pastures, maintenance, keeping the cattle comfortable and happy and the farm neat and tidy. “Happy, clean, comfortable, cows are productive cows”, says Dan.
